How to Set a Cheerful Summer Table
This post is in partnership with Walmart.
Summer officially arrived and along with it, fresh decorating opportunities and resuming outdoor gatherings. Even after all the time we spent here in 2020, our backyard is still our favorite destination!
Making our backyard feel like a retreat from the world over the past few years has become more significant than ever to our well-being.
I try to keep summer experiences and decor very affordable and simple, but still fun and memorable. Last week I had so much fun creating a cheerful outdoor space for our family with table settings I found at Walmart Home! I love them so much. The family and the table settings :). It’s so easy to shop for seasonal and everyday items at Walmart online, some of our items were shipped right to our door and a few others we picked up in store.
Whether we’re just hanging out for our morning coffee, or enjoying an evening meal with our family around the table, we want our backyard to feel like a special place where memories are made from morning to evening!
Everyone’s faces lit up (including the pups!) when they saw the table all decorated with the beautiful blue dishes, citrus napkins, darling striped cups, checkered tablecloth and summery gingham bowls. These adorable items remind me of simpler times, making experiences feel special and memorable.
It’s awesome when decorative items in our home have more than one purpose. We used the floral lids that came on the checkered serving bowls for a creative accent on the table. I think they look so cute on that bold blue and white checked tablecloth! We’ll use the aqua dish set indoors and outdoors–besides the beautiful color, they are a nice weight, size and shape ceramic set. I love the rims around the plates, perfect for pasta and any other meal.
The shades of blue feel so fresh mixed with a pretty citrus yellow, don’t you think?
We had lemons to make lemonade with the next day, but they looked so pretty on the table for an added organic element and pop of contrasting color.
Use what you have, make lemonade out of your centerpiece. Or make your lemons into a centerpiece.

For our summer decorating style or outdoor parties, I often will start with a fresh color palette that puts us in a happy mood and then I bring together a carefree mix of patterns to keep the atmosphere relaxed and light-hearted.
Fun, happy and carefree is just how summer should be, if you ask me!
Tomorrow on the blog I’ll share our simple iced coffee recipe, we’ve been enjoying it out on the deck! It’s so yummy!
Happy summer, friends!
